Although still young, Williams has been in the public eye for nearly two decades. So while he told Hall he initially wanted out of the network game show, Quinta Brunson brought it back by directing a unique comedy.

Brunson took an unusual path to television. She first made a name for herself on BuzzFeed by providing hilarious memes and comments. However, with Abbott Elementary School, she combines these worlds into something both hilarious and poignant. This, according to Williams, was one of the main reasons he came on board.
“I ended up reading chemistry with Quinta,” Williams told the Netflix is a joke podcast. “She contacted me in – I mean in December 2020, saying that she liked some work that I had done and had written this role for me in this pilot and that she would like it if I read it and the tried. ”
