Biggest game show blunders of 2021

Psst – do you hear that? It’s the sound of a Peril! the candidate obtains the lowest score of all time. Or what about this? It’s the sound of Twitter cackling on a hilarious Wheel of Fortune gaffe involving the word “buttercut”. Well, what about those screams? These are the cries of a horrified production crew shutting down an upcoming reality TV show due to an outbreak of – chills – explosive diarrhea. The year 2021 brought many blunders in game shows, and we’re here to break down the best (uh, worst?) Moments the competitions had to offer.

One of the biggest blunders, we would say, is the Peril! reception crisis. We didn’t include this on this list because, well, it would occupy slots 1-10, at less. You remember ? In which Peril!Has the own executive producer presented himself as Alex Trebek’s successor, ignoring calls to hire people like Ken Jennings or LeVar Burton? Yeah, it was tough. We were also able to experience all the ups and downs of Peril!guest hosts, including natives like Anderson Cooper and Sanjay Gupta, against the horrid Dr. Oz.

That being said, Peril! wasn’t the only game show to air in 2021, even though it was the biggest title. Wheel of Fortune had their expected series of blunders, and America has talent brought out real eccentric competitors from the nooks and crannies of the country. The voice and The masked singer brought us singers that took our breath away, and while it still feels heartwarming, The Great British Pastry Fair broke our hearts.

Without further ado, here are the top 10 biggest game show blunders of 2021.

Peril! had her own Karen this year – literally, because the nominee’s name was actually Karen. The competitor was criticized for her personal “racist” anecdote, in which she lamented her stay as a visiting student in New York. One day, while taking the subway, she found herself in Jamaica, in Queens, not knowing where she was – and that was the story.

“I had no idea how I got there. It was very pre-Uber, pre-smartphone, ”she added. “So, a terrifying moment. Just me in abject fear.

Fortunately, the contestant didn’t win – but people were pretty upset with the whole blunder after a Twitter user shared the clip with a palm-facing emoji. You know what they say about karma!

We all know Pat Sajak as the adorable Wheel of Fortune host, but this year he did the unthinkable: mocked a candidate for his disability. Contestant Chris Brimble appeared on the show in February, and after a brief question-and-answer session with him, Sajak imitated the barrier to speech. After Brimble explained his job, Sajak replied, “Ah, I got you,” mocking the guy’s lisp. Viewers were rightly annoyed by the blunder, calling it “appalling and shameful”.

“You arrogant overpaid moron… Stop it now,” someone wrote, calling for Sajak’s resignation.

While Sajak still has a job, it looks like the backlash has faded after this whole thing.

We don’t have one but of them new seasons of The circle this year, which has resulted in a veritable multitude of cat fishing delights and more social media mania. Season 2 of the hit Netflix game show brought us the GCOAT (the greatest catfish of all time, of course) to Deleesa, aka her boyfriend “Trevor”.

“Trevor” formed a powerful alliance with Too hot to handle it‘s Chloe Veitch, dragging her into a love affair that promised two big wins: the cash prize and a new boyfriend. Unfortunately, Deleesa’s brain was behind Trevor the entire time, using her boyfriend’s photos and mind to win the competition. And they thought they would vote against all catfish!

When you read “LE NE_T GENER_T_ _N”, your mind probably fills in the blanks: THE NEXT GENERATION, right? Well, the next generation thinks differently, apparently, because candidate Matt on Wheel of Fortune guessed a wild answer completely out of the blue. Instead of the next generation, Matt guessed, “The best Buttercut. »What is a buttercut? And what does the worst buttercut look like?

Viewers quickly laughed at the whole affair, suggesting it sounded like “something a person might say when the anesthesia wears off.” They also applauded Sajak’s ability to keep his cool on the air, after an extremely flat “Uh, no” in response to Matt’s response.

Vita Coco brings UK's biggest Slip 'N' Slide to London

We’re sorry 2021 had to put an end to such an exciting project, but it’s honestly for the best. We never got to see NBC Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide successful, alas. That’s because filming was halted after a massive outbreak of explosive diarrhea hit production, a disease that doesn’t go well with slip-and-slip – or any other activity, for that matter. There is not much else to say on the subject. TEAR, Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide.

AGT Pasha

He might not have won this year America has talent showdown, but Pasha certainly made his mark on the show’s judges. The interpreter dated a big fool: his wife and partner in crime had been stranded and unable to pass the audition. Oh no! Still, he said he would go on without her.

But that was exactly the point, we all learned, as he rolled over a scythe Lars and the real girl—Sque mannequin ready for the puppet. After pulling off a fantastic dance with his puppet, Pasha continued in the show, but it wasn’t without some teasing from the judges.

“If people go online, you’re going to scare a lot of little kids!” Shouted Judge Howie Mandel.

LeVar Burton and Patrick Pearce

Peril! fans were all waiting for LeVar Burton’s debut as a guest host, a top pick for the permanent niche. And when the time finally turned, he was completely eclipsed by horrific contender Patrick Pearce (and, ultimately, stellar champion Matt Amodio).

Patrick actually set a record for the lowest Peril! score ever, coming in at a whopping – $ 7400. Yep. Shouldn’t he Peril! money at that time? Unfortunately, this made him ineligible for Final Jeopardy, losing all chances of redemption in the quiz. He plays as well as the rest of us are at home, from our sofas in front of the TV.

Larry the Cable Guy as a Baby

Get a lot of boss baby vibes of this: Larry the Cable Guy was revealed as the big baby “Nightmare Fuel” on The masked singer. Yes, the Big Baby drinks from a bottle. A bottle of beer! It’s not Sarah Palin, but that reveal was pretty darn close to the level of insanity last season’s The masked singer bring.

After a few performances on The masked singer, the Big Baby was forced to unmask, revealing the iconic comedian below. “Everyone was thinking, ‘This is Bruce Willis!’ Well, what a disappointment, eh? Everyone was thrilled to see this action hero, ”Larry joked. “It’s the first time that I’ve really sang something in front of everyone.”

While a damn good baker ended up winning The Great British Pastry Fair, we’re still a bit burned out by the end of the final season of the beloved series. The hardest part, of course, is that three fantastic bakers made the final, so eliminating Jürgen was really a tough decision for the judges. However, we really had our money on him to earn it all. But don’t cry over burnt bread!

Jürgen stole our hearts from the very first episode of the final season of GBBS, winning the first prize of the starred baker, continuing to win two more of the first prize. How the hell did he not win? He’s like the Paddington Bear! Ugh!

The fall copy of the voice
Photo: NBC

A competitor on The voice suffered a terrible fall during a recent live broadcast of the reality series, which amazed viewers of the show. Wendy Moten, competing as part of Team Blake, had a bad fall as she performed with the rest of her group, leading the show to complete awkward silence. After returning from a commercial break, Wendy said she was “fine” and “just a little bruised”, but her performance on the following week’s live broadcast proved her injuries were a bit more. serious than that.

Wendy showed up for her next show with both of her arms in a cast, singing without any arm movement. It turns out that the competitor broke his wrist and a broken elbow – ouch! Yet she was applauded for her strength and persistence in the competition. The voice is still airing, and we encourage Wendy’s success and his safety.
