Breaking News – Mattel’s ‘Pictionary’ Game Show Will Have Its National Premiere On Monday, September 12

NEW YORK, August 17, 2022 — Mattel’s “Pictionary,” hosted by Jerry O’Connell, is set to premiere nationwide on September 12, 2022. After a successful test run last summer, the series is rolling out nationwide as that O’Connell hosts the family’s favorite game show, based on Mattel’s popular board game of quick sketches and hilarious guesses.

The broadcast version of “Pictionary” will follow the same home game rules. Celebrity captains including Amanda Seales, Loni Love, Cristela Alonzo, Ross Mathews, Amanda Kloots, Akbar Gbajabiamila, Natalie Morales and more lead two teams of three as players pull clues for their teammates to guess the words or the winning phrases. The 30-minute national daytime series is produced by Fox First Run as well as Bill’s Market and Television Production and distributed by CBS Media Ventures (CMV). The show will air on Fox-owned stations in major markets, among other stations nationwide. Click here to check local listings in your area.

“It’s exhilarating to be a part of such an iconic tradition and to bring this beloved franchise into the daytime landscape,” O’Connell said. “Growing up it was a family favorite and something I continue to share with my children today. It’s a great privilege to help expand the reach of the experience, engaging competitors and fans of the game nationwide.”

Arguably one of TV’s busiest men, O’Connell adds “Pictionary” to a solid lineup of high-profile projects. He returns to host “The Talk” this fall and will host CBS’ reality romance adventure series, “The Real Love Boat,” which premieres Oct. 5 at 9 p.m. ET with his wife, Rebecca Romijn.

O’Connell began his career at age 11, starring Vern Tessio in “Stand by Me.” Perhaps most notably, he received critical acclaim for his role as quarterback Frank Cushman in “Jerry Maguire.” The actor recently starred in WGN’s “Carter” and “The Death of Superman.” Other film credits include “Scream 2,” “Can’t Hardly Wait,” the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced comedy “Kangaroo Jack,” and “Piranha 3-D.” O’Connell has also been seen in several hit television series, including “Scream Queens”, “Mistresses” and “Billions”. In the summer of 2019, he hosted “Jerry O”, a daytime talk show that aired on FOX television stations. Recently, O’Connell starred alongside David Alan Grier and Blair Underwood in “A Soldier’s Play,” which won two Tony Awards.

“Pictionary” is produced by David Hurwitz, Noah Bonnett and Richard Brown. Fred Soulie, SVP & GM of Mattel Television and Phil Breman, VP Live-Action, are Mattel’s co-executive producers.

Launched in 1985, Pictionary quickly became the ultimate recreational activity for kids and adults. In 2019, Mattel reimagined the classic game in an interactive digital format. Called Pictionary Air, the product won the 2020 Toy of the Year (TOTY) award in the Toy Association’s annual rankings, considered the “Oscars” of the toy industry. Pictionary is available in over 30 languages and nearly 40 countries.

Trademarks and copyrights in and on Pictionary(R) are owned by Pictionary Incorporated, a subsidiary of Mattel, Inc.
