Hasbro and LeVar Burton Team for the Trivial Pursuit Game Show

Hasbro’s eOne is hiring LeVar Burton to host the latest game show iteration of their board game Trivial Pursuit.

Following the Peril! welcoming the debacle earlier this year, legendary actor LeVar Burton teamed up with Hasbro to secure new TV hosting business.

Hasbro’s continued efforts to tailor its holdings of board and card games – such as Magic: The Gathering – in lucrative television projects will bring audiences an updated iteration of a Trivial Pursuit game show, with Burton at the helm. The trivia board game has easily lent itself to the game show format in the past with previous versions of Trivial Pursuit hosted by Wink Martindale and Christopher Knight.

LeVar Burton has been an iconic member of American pop culture for decades Roots at Rainbow reading at Star trek and beyond, ”said Tara Long, eOne president of Global Unscripted Television. “His love for intellectual curiosity, coupled with his ability to connect with audiences around the world, makes him the perfect partner in bringing Hasbro’s beloved trivia game to homes in a new and exciting way.

Trivial Pursuit is one of the best-known brands in the gaming world. I am delighted to have partnered with Hasbro and eOne to bring this beloved game to market as a premium television show, ”commented Burton. In addition to hosting, Burton will also be executive producer of the game show. No streaming network platform is currently attached.

A welcoming partnership with Hasbro is a fair reward for the Star trek actor, who fought hard for the post of Peril! host after the death of Alex Trebek. The fan consensus was that Burton, the former Rainbow reading host, was the perfect choice for the job. However, a surge of fan support only represented a brief stint as the actor’s host, followed by a frustrating network that ultimately led to Burton withdrawing his name from the race altogether.

Other upcoming projects for Burton include Tom swift, a spin-off of The CW’s Nancy drew, and Butterfly in the sky, an upcoming documentary on Rainbow reading.
