About five years ago, it was announced that Priyanka Chopra Jonas was developing a sitcom based on the life of Bollywood superstar Madhuri Dixit-Nene. It was reported that Chopra would also produce the show for the American network ABC. Sri Rao, who directed Dixit’s upcoming web series The Fame Game and is also the writer for shows like General Hospital: Night Shift, was supposed to write the pilot and also serve as the series’ executive producer along with the husband’s husband. actor Sriram Nene.

But Dixit in an exclusive chat with News18.com confirmed that the project was no longer happening, “There was a discussion going on and we were trying to pitch it and Shri Rao who got me the script for The Fame Game and also directed the show was also involved in this project. But sometimes things work out and there are times when it doesn’t. We tried to get this sitcom approved, but it didn’t work out,” he said. she stated.

The show was to focus on Dixit’s life in the American suburbs: in the mid-2000s, she moved to Denver after her marriage to cardiologist Shriram Nene. The sitcom was going to focus on the actor’s life in a new neighborhood where people had no idea how big of a star she really was overseas.

“It wasn’t exactly my autobiography. It was part fiction and part fact. They were going to take some examples from my life, including the fact that I was a Bollywood actor before moving to Denver where no one really knew me. So what happens in such a situation? But it’s done and we’re not working on it anymore,” she said.

Dixit will make her OTT debut starring in the upcoming Netflix thriller The Fame Game, in which she plays Bollywood superstar Anamika Anand, whose sudden disappearance triggers the unveiling of dark secrets surrounding her life. While the actor is a superstar in his own right, Dixit says the similarities between his character Anamika Anand and his life end there. “Anamika’s equation with her family, whether with her husband or her mother, is different from mine. He is a fictional character. You’ve read so many stories about showbiz. I think the writer Sri Rao took these examples and weaved them into Anamika’s life. This is an exaggerated representation; not all movie people are like that,” she says.
