As one of the more recent members of the General Hospital cast, Cameron Mathison certainly had a lot to celebrate (even though his character, Drew Cain, is stuck somewhere in a horrific Peter August-centric prison), as he is loved by soap fans. It is a fact that must be celebrated, just like the milestone recognized by the actor.
Happy Birthday, Cameron Mathison!
That’s because he was born on August 25, 1969 in Sarnia, Ontario, which means this fan favorite is 52 today! After graduating from McGill University in Montreal, Mathison began working as a model and quickly turned to acting.
He has appeared in several commercials in Canada, the United States and Europe, and made his film debut in the 1998 drama 54, the story of the infamous New York nightclub which also co-starred with Sherry Stringfield (ex-Blake, Guiding Light). A year earlier, he had appeared in the TV movie Any Mother’s Son.
Between January 12, 1998 and 2011, Mathison starred in All My Children as Ryan Lavery. For his work on the venerable soap opera, Mathison received a number of award nominations, including two for Best Supporting Actor at the Daytime Emmys.
Mathison’s other acting credits include guest spots on F / X: The Series, The Job, The Drew Carey Show, CSI, JAG, Will I Lie to You, Desperate Housewives, Drop Dead Diva, Hot in Cleveland and The Exes.
He had a recurring role on the sitcom Hope & Faith – which starred Kelly Ripa, AMC alum – and between 2015 and 2017 he starred in all five films that made up the Murder She Baked franchise (which starred Days of our Lives star Alison Sweeney).
Cameron Mathison is the former host of series such as I Wanna Be A Soap Star, Your Place or Mine, Game of Homes, The Annual Instant Beauty Pageants and Good Morning America; and until recently as co-host of Home and Family. He is also a full time correspondent for Entertainment Tonight.
Mathison has been married to model Vanessa Marie Arevalo since July 27, 2002. The couple have two children: a son, Lucas (born April 20, 2003) and a daughter, Leila (born July 7, 2006).
