TV Q&A: Commercial Actor Killed in a TV Soap | Entertainment

You have questions. I have a few answers.

Q: Is the ‘struggling actor’ in Liberty Mutual’s insurance ads the same man who played Finn in ‘The Bold and Beautiful’? And why did this show kill him?

A: It’s Tanner Novlan in both the commercials (where he’s famous for saying “Liberty Biberty”) and as the recently slain Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan in the daytime drama. This disappearance from the soap opera took him by surprise. But, as he told Soap Opera Digest, “that’s the nature of the soap opera. Anything can happen at any time, and that’s ultimately what keeps people engaged with the show. Commercials aside, he expects to be back in “Roswell, New Mexico,” which kicks off a fourth season on The CW on June 6 — and hopes for a fifth season. “You’re going to see a lot of me boring you on your TV screen,” he joked.

Q: In 2021, I came across the movie “John Wick” by chance and was amazed! My question is, when is chapter 4 coming out? I can not wait to see him.

A: Keanu Reeves’ terse action character has certainly created a lot of fans in “John Wick” (2014), “John Wick: Chapter 2” (2017) and “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” (2019). Many of us have been waiting for “John Wick: Chapter 4” and will have to keep waiting. The latest announced release date for the film is March 24, 2023.

Q: I loved the “Major Dad” series with Gerald McRaney. I can’t find it on DVD. Is it available?

A: The comedy, which originally aired on CBS from 1989 to 1993, starred McRaney as a Navy officer who married Polly Cooper (played by Shanna Reed), a liberal journalist and mom. I don’t know of an authorized DVD set (and I’m only mentioning authorized sets here). However, you can find episodes in other ways, including on and Prime Video.

Q: Some shows I watch every week are “9-1-1”, “9-1-1: Lone Star”, “Magnum PI”, “Blue Bloods” and “SWAT”. I also like “New Amsterdam” and “Bull,” but they were cancelled. Will the other shows be back?

A: First of all, “New Amsterdam” is not cancelled; it will return for a 13-episode finale during the 2022-23 season. For the rest, CBS recently announced another season for “Blue Bloods” and previously picked up “SWAT.” No word yet on “Magnum” or the two “9-1-1” series. The full announcements of the new season from the networks are coming in a few weeks.
