Where’s Eurovision’s Mickey Joe Harte now – from reality TV to being a grandfather


He may not have won Eurovision, but Mickey Joe Harte still holds a special place in the hearts of the nation.

Mickey Joe shot to fame in 2003 on the RTE reality show You’re A Star and went on to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Everyone loved his hit song We’ve Got the World, but what has the Donegal native been up to since taking part in Eurovision 19 years ago?

Mickey Joe performed We Got the World in Riga, Latvia in 2003.

He finished in eleventh place, which at the time was considered one of the worst results for Ireland, which is the most successful country in Eurovision having won seven times.

We’ve Got the World proved to be a smash hit and went to number one on the Irish Singles Chart.

Mickey Joe once explained how he agreed to always be known as the boy who sang the Eurovision song, and while it bothered him, it doesn’t now.

Musical career

Mickey Joe continued to record music after his Eurovision appearance.

As it stands, he has released three albums, Sometimes Right, Sometimes Wrong, Live & Learn and Forward To Reality, and achieved multiple platinum records and a number of Top 20 hits on the Irish charts.

television work

Mickey Joe has appeared on our television screens many times over the years.

In 2007 he appeared on RTE’s reality show Celebrity Go Wild, which saw eight celebrities fend for themselves in rural Connemara.

As Brian Ormond’s best man at his wedding to Pippa O’Connor in 2011, he also appeared on their reality show Brian and Pippa Are Getting Married, which documented the build-up to their stunning Wicklow wedding.

He also works as a singer on Let’s Dance, the German version of Strictly Come Dancing.

True to his roots, Mickey Joe was a junior Eurovision judge last October.


Mickey Joe can often be seen performing at various venues across the country.

Like so many other artists, he was hit hard by the Covid-19 lockdowns and found his work had dried up during the pandemic.

Become a grandfather

Since appearing on the entertainment scene, Mickey Joe has become a grandfather.

His daughter Kayleigh welcomed a baby girl named Aria in 2019, making him a grandfather at the age of 45 – which he previously admitted was “strange”.

Mickey Joe is also the father of three other children and has a wife named Louise.

Louise works as a nurse, and the singer has previously shared how a scary time Covid was for her family because she was on the front line and they didn’t know how the situation was going to play out, but thankfully everything worked out. went well.
