‘Young, Famous & African’ lands National Reality Television Awards nomination

“Amazing time for our #YoungFamousAndAfrican family! Can’t thank you enough for the amazing support!!!

“The National Reality Television Awards are pleased to announce that Young, Famous & African are nominated for this year’s prestigious 11th National Reality TV Awards 2022 (UK). Young, Famous & African is nominated in the category “BEST INTERNATIONAL SHOW”, alongside some of the best reality TV shows in the world!”

Filmed in South Africa and featuring a host of African celebrities including Annie Idibia, Khanyi Mbau and Diamond Platnumz, the unscripted reality show launched worldwide on March 18 to soaring reviews. In Nigeria, fans loved how the show highlighted the wedding of celebrity couple Annie and 2Baba Idibia.

The actress had opened up about dealing with conflicting emotions that arose from 2Baba’s betrayal shortly after her fame. The not-so-shocking reveal was marked by a wedding celebration marking their 10th anniversary.

The Idibias weren’t the only cast members who skipped the personal life talk. Diamond and his ex-girlfriend Zari Hassan and other couple stars have shared some parts of their relationship.

According to Hyde, one of the ideas that inspired “Young, Famous and African” was the need to dispel “tales propelled around the world of greener pastures abroad and lands of milk and honey that have lured so many young Africans to the homeland sometimes through very perilous journeys just so they can enjoy ‘a higher perceived standard of living.

The show is Netflix’s first foray into African reality series.
